About IET and MFIIS

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), earlier known as IEE, Institution of Electrical Engineers, is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community. The IET has more than 150,000 members in 127 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. The IET provides a global knowledge network to facilitate the exchange of ideas and promote the positive role of science, engineering and technology in the world. The IET Kolkata Network is located in the City of Joy, the vibrant metropolis of India. It is the only city in India which had nurtured five Nobel laureates. Being the oldest in India, the Network is proud of its history. Its origin dates back to 1944 when good number of British Engineers had taken initiative to form the then Calcutta Centre of The Institution of Electrical Engineers.

Since inception in 2012, Michael Faraday IET India Summit attracted attention of professional communities all over India as one of the flagship event of IET Kolkata Network. Then, Michael Faraday IET International Summit (MFIIS) was organized in 2015 where all presented paper were published in IET Digital Library. In 2020, fourth MFIIS will be organized as an IET’s Flagship Event. It will also be a part of celebration of 75th year of Kolkata Network and 150th year of IET.

Emil Levi

Emil Levi received his Dipl. Ing. degree from the University of Novi Sad, Yugoslavia in 1982 and his MSc and the PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1986 and 1990, respectively. From 1982 till 1992 he was with the Dept. of Electrical Engineering, University of Novi Sad. He joined Liverpool John Moores University, UK in May 1992 and is since September 2000 Professor of Electric Machines and Drives. He served as a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Trans. on Industrial Electronics in the 2009-2013 period and is currently Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Trans. on Industrial Electronics (for the period 2019-2021) and Editor-in-Chief of the IET Electric Power Applications. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and the recipient of the Cyril Veinott award of the IEEE Power and Energy Society for 2009 and the Best Paper award of the IEEE Trans. on Industrial Electronics for 2008. He is also a recipient of the European Power Electronics (EPE) Association “Outstanding Achievement Award” for 2014 and “Professor Istvan Nagy Award” of the Power Electronics and Motion Control (PEMC) Council for 2018.

LIM, Yew Kee. CEng MIET (res – Georgetown, Penang) is an Adjunct Lecturer, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Perak, Malaysia. He is Chairman (2018-2019; 2019-2021) of the IET Internet of Things Network (TN); Council Member (2015-2018); the IET Ambassador to IET China (2016-present); the IET Manufacturing Network (2013-2016); and IPRA (since 2017-present).

He is a Technical Fellow, LogikHaus Sdn. Bhd., Penang, Malaysia and Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. With substantial knowledge in engineering practices and with thirty years’ experience in managing global businesses (fortune 500 and public listed companies). From 2013 till 2018, he has organised thirteen events (workshops and international conferences). He has delivered technical lectures to various professional societies and universities in China (not exclusive), e.g. International Space Science Institute – Beijing (ISSI-BJ), Royal Society of Chemistry, IOP Institute of Physics, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunication (BUPT), Sanjiang University (SJU), and others. He was invited to deliver keynote addresses to two international conferences (Toyohashi University of Technology Japan, IGNITE 2019 and Universiti Sains Malaysia, ICVSSD 2019). "How satellite technology is transforming the daily lives of people" By

Dave Davis,
Chairman of IET Satellite Technical Network, United Kingdom

Dave Davis (MBE BSc(Hons) CEng FIET FITP; Technical Director, Global Accounts, ST Engineering iDirect): Dave Davis has a seasoned background in Satellite Communications (Satcom). Learning his trade as an apprentice in the British Army in 1988, he went on to specialize in Satcom at an early age; his first practical experience of Satcom being the response to Hurricane Andrew in the Caribbean in 1992. Months later he was in the first wave of troops deployed to Bosnia as a satellite terminal technician and continued to work with satellite terminals until his final tour as the military Satcom instructor. He was awarded the MBE in 2002 for meritorious military service.

Leaving the Army in 2003, he went into industry and continued to build his professional qualifications. He joined NSSLGlobal, a leading Satcom distribution partner, as a Systems Engineer, before becoming a Project Manager and Engineering Manager. He led many cutting edge projects and was responsible for providing communications to many high profile expeditions, events and deployments. In 2013, he went on to become the Defence and Security specialist at ST Engineering iDirect, before moving to be the lead iDirect engineer supporting the ground-breaking Inmarsat Global Xpress (GX) network. Dave sits on various national and international panels as a technical advisor.

In his spare time, Dave volunteers with the IET and ITP as a mentor and Professional Recognition Advisor. He also volunteers with the Newman Holiday Trust (www.newmantrust.org) and Team Rubicon UK (www.teamrubiconuk.org), both organisations are always looking for new volunteers.

"DIGITAL TWIN - FUTURE OF IOT THROUGH ANALYTICS" BY

Head of Global Technology, WS Atkins

Santhosh, CEng, Ph. D, has more than 20 years of software development experience focused on next generation technologies. In his current role as Head of Global Technology, he is currently focused on incubating use cases in AEC industry using Blockchain, IOT and AI technologies. Some of the areas he is currently working includes automation of inter disciplinary checks of 3D design using blockchain, collaborative design using augmented reality application and next generation self-service driven analytics platform. Santhosh is IAM certified Asset Management professional and has filed patents in the area of targeted ad placements and dynamic personal network manager. His research also includes study the dynamic network relationships between multi networks that enables/enhances innovation. He has been speakers at different national and international forums like ITU World – Dubai, National Association of Broadcasting – Las Vegas to name a few.
